In Austria this dish is called “Mohnnudeln” – the straight forward translation to English is: “poppy seed noodles”. The “noodles” however are rather similar to Italian gnocchi that are served as sweet dish with browned butter, sugar and poppy seeds.
500g floury potatoes (cooked)
30g butter + about 100g extra for serving
200-250g flour + plus extra for dusting
150g ground poppy seeds
100g icing sugar
optional: apple puree or plum compote for serving
