Chocolate Banana Bread Brownies

These Chocolate Banana Bread Brownies also feature walnuts and are dense, moist, and comforting. Perfect with a big mug of coffee!

3/4 stick (3 oz. or 90g) unsalted butter
3/4 cup or 4.5 oz (130g) semisweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate
3-4 ripe bananas , mashed (you should get about 1 3/4 cups mashed bananas)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs , slightly beaten
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)
