Steel cut oats cooked low and slow in your crock pot.
1 1/2 cups steel cut oats
6 cups water
1 cup chopped fresh dates or 1/4 cup sweetener (sugar or maple syrup)
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
Optional: Add 1tbsp molasses, 1/2 tsp allspice, and a pinch of ground ginger for a richer flavor that hints at gingerbread.
