Green Vegetable Dum Biryani
Green Vegetable Dum Biryani or Veg Palak Biryani with step by step photos – Vegetable Dum Biryani is a simple and all time favourite rice dish. This recipe is slightly different than Hydrabadi Biryani in terms of cooking time and texture. The green color of this biryani is mainly because of Spinach (Palak) puree.
Whole Spices:
8 cloves
1 inch cinnamon stick
2-3 star anise (chakriphool)
4 green cardamoms
2 bay leaves
Green Paste:
1 bowl spinach (rinsed and cut)
⅓ cup fresh cilantro
2 green chilies (spicy one)
1 small piece of ginger
Other Ingredients:
1 and ½ cup basmati rice, soaked for 1 hour
½ cup cauliflower florettes
1 carrot cut into large Julianne
10-12 pieces french beans cut into half
2 medium onion sliced
1 large tomatoes chopped
1 cup curd
1 tbsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp red chili powder
½ tbsp coriander powder
½ tbsp fennel seeds powder (saunf powder or variyali powder)
Salt to taste
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp ghee.
1 cup birista (sliced onions fried till very dark brown)
½ cup raisins
Some cashew nuts
