Caramel Apple French Toast

This Caramel Apple French Toast is a healthier version of your favorite special occasion breakfast.
Ingredients
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup coconut sugar
2 Tbsp brown rice syrup
1-2 large apple, peeled and sliced
4-6 slices (1 inch thick) whole wheat bakery style bread, I used a soft honey whole wheat bread similar to Italian bread that I bought at my local grocery store bakery (the slices were big and I only needed 4 of them)
4 eggs
1 1/3 cup milk of choice (I used unsweetened almond milk)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
