Tamarind rice
Tamarind rice is a traditional dish of south India. It is also commonly called as huli anna, Hunase huli chitranna in kannada. It is an easy to prepare recipe with simple ingredients. It is a tangy, tasty and yummy rice dish, which tastes sweet, sour and spicy. A perfect dish to pack for travelling or for your lunch box.
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Peanuts – 1/2 cup
Chana dal – 1 -2 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Onion – 2 medium chopped
Green chilies – 3-4 no’s
Curry leaves – 4 – 5 springs
Coriander – 1/2 cup chopped
Tamarind – Big lemon sized ball (soaked in warm water)
Jaggery – 1/4 cup grated
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Sambar powder – 1 1/2 tbs
Dry copra – 1 cup grated
Salt to taste
Oil to fry
