Baked Cinnamon Doughnuts
Sometimes we all need something sweet – but don’t want all the oil from fried doughnuts (or all of the fat and sugar in most baked goods). Here’s a solution! These adorable baked doughnuts contain minimal oil and sugar, and are so quick to make.
For the doughnuts:
¾ cup spelt flour
¾ teaspoon baking powder
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon superfine (caster) sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
¼ teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon maple syrup
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
For the cinnamon-sugar coating:
2 tablespoons superfine (caster) sugar (Note: You will not use all of this)
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Candace says
Can you omit the maple syrup or use imitation flavor? Hubby is allergic to maple so I can’t use it so I wonder if the flavor will be really off without it?
