Broccoli Rabe and Chickpeas with Toasted Garlic Breadcrumbs

This takes an Italian classic pasta dish makes the broccoli rabe the star. Chickpeas are added for texture and a little bulk. This is a family favorite!
Ingredients
1 bunch broccoli rabe (rapini)
1 t. salt
3 T. olive oil, divided
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 T. unseasoned panko breadcrumbs
1 1/2 T. pine nuts
1/4 t. crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 c. cooked chickpeas, drained and rinsed
3 T. grated Parmigiano-Reggiano or Parmesan cheese, divided
salt to taste
