Katharine Hepburn’s Brownies – one-pot brownies with crispy and cracked top crust, and moist and chewy underneath

2 squares (60 g) unsweetened chocolate
1 stick (8 tablespoons; 110 g) butter
1 cup (200 g) sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
¼ cup (30 g) all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
