⅔ cup water
⅛ tsp salt
1 Tbsp dark brown sugar
4 Tbsp maple syrup, divided
⅓ cup roughly chopped pecans
6 small honeycrisp apples
About 3 tsp ground cinnamon, divided
6-18 whole pecans for topping
