Vegan Dal makhani (vegan butter lentils)

This dal makhani is my new favorite comfort food, it is rich, buttery, garlicy, healthy and absolutely divine. Oh! and did I say, gluten free!
Ingredients
1 cup red lentils
½ cup brown lentils
1 cup water
1 onion, chopped
1 tbsp fresh ginger, chopped
6 garlic cloves, chopped
1 can (400ml) coconut milk
2 tomatoes, chopped
¼ cup vegetable gee (or margarine)
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground turmeric
a big handful of fresh coriander, coarsely chopped
juice of 1 lime
salt
