A beautiful golden brown pocket full of goodness. The pie crust so flaky and crunchy, with an apple pear combination filling, that is succulent, juicy, and sweet.
Ingredients
Duchess Cookbook Easy Mixer Pie Dough (makes 2 x 9-inch pie shells):
320 g (2 cups) organic, unbleached all purpose flour
113 g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, cubed, cold
100 g (1/2 cup) vegetable shortening, cubed,cold
1/2 tsp salt
121 g (1/2 cup) ice water
Apple and Pear Filling:
3 small apples
1 medium pear
lemon juice
2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp maple syrup
2 Tbsp brown sugar
pinch of nutmeg
pinch of cardamom
Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon water)
