¾ cup wheat bran
¾ cup whole wheat pastry flour
½ cup unpacked brown sugar
1½ tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup chopped dates
½ cup ground flax
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp canola oil
¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
1 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
