An easy and delicious homemade enchilada sauce using dried chiles and a blend of spices. Better than any canned or jarred variety, and so much healthier.
Ingredients
3 large dried ancho chiles
1 cup diced onion
2.5 teaspoons cumin–divided
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
2 cups vegetable broth–boiling
1 teaspoon oregano
2-3 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
1 15 ounce can diced tomatoes
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
