Slow-Cooker Heirloom Tomato Sauce

Serves: 6 cups
Making homemade tomato sauce is incredibly easy with a slow cooker!
Ingredients
~4 pounds (1.8 kg) variety heirloom tomatoes
1 TBSP olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 TBSP fresh rosemary, chopped
1 TBSP fresh oregano, chopped
15 basil leaves, plus more for garnish
1 bay leaf
¼ tsp black pepper
½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (or more to taste)
½~1 tsp salt
¼ cup (60 mL) red wine – I used pinot noir
4 cloves garlic, crushed
