Tomato-Less Marinara Sauce

Savory, thick tomato-free marinara that is packed full of flavor and nutrition. A good way to put a new spin on marinara. Nightshade friendly.
Ingredients
1-2 Tbsp coconut or olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 Tbsp minced garlic
4 large carrots, chopped
1 can sweet potato puree (could use 1 1/2 cup mashed sweet potatoes)
2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
1 bunch basil, chopped
1/2 tsp marjoram
1 Tbsp dried oregano
salt & pepper, to taste
1/2 cup broth (more or less depending upon desired thickness)
