Vegan Stout Cake With Salted Caramel

This boozy cake is perfect for Saint Patrick’s Day. The chocolate, beer and caramel combination is perfection.
Ingredients
1 flax egg (1 tablespoon flax seed mixed with 3 tablespoons warm water)
2 sticks (1 cup) Earth Balance or Butter
1 cup Guinness or other stout beer
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce
1 shot of espresso or 1/8 cup strongly brewed coffee
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups white flour
homemade or store bought caramel sauce
sea salt for topping
