Maple Crumb Donuts
There is something about this fluffy baked donut topped with a mess of sweet crumbles that (when paired with a good cup of coffee) makes me weak in the knees. Think of these donuts like coffee cake, but sturdier and made perfectly sweet thanks to some good ole maple syrup.
Maple Donuts:
1 1/2 cups light spelt flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/3 cup unsweetened apple sauce
2 tablespoons refined coconut oil
Crumble Topping:
1/3 cup light spelt flour
1 tablespoon maple sugar (or coconut sugar)
1 tablespoon refined coconut oil
a good pinch of salt
